Julius Maier (1896 - 1942/5)

Julius Maier was born on January 11, 1886 in Königsbach. His parents were the trader Moritz Maier and his wife Sofie née Tiefenbronner (1857 - 1942/5). Julius had a brother David (*1892).

On December 16, 1919 he married Irma Weil (*28.10.1894), second daughter of Leopold Weil (1863 - 1917) and his wife Klara née Kern (1870 - 1938) .
The couple lived Königsbach and had two children: Ilsa (*1920) und Manfred (*1926).

When his father died (before 1933) Julius continued the family business of cattle trading together with his brother David. His fate is summarized in 1963:

Here it is not mentioned that Julius Maier was sent to the KZ Dachau from November 11, 1938 to December 05, 1938. Probably after this event he moved with his family and his mother to Pforzheim. All five were deported from there first to Gurs and later to Auschwitz where they were murdered. His brother David, who had remained in Königsbach, was deported and murdered, too.

Julius, Irma, Ilsa and Manfred are remembered on the Weil memorial plaque in the synagogue as victims of the shoah.
